Ardy Strüwer

Ardy Struwer, fully Eduard Arnaud Strüwer (Jakarta, Indonesia 1939) is a Swedish-Indonesian-Dutch artist who grew up in Indonesia, then called the Dutch Indies, and the Netherlands. He attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague and, as a guest student, the graphics department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. Amongst other places, he has worked and lived in Stockholm, New York and Paris, where he now lives. Strüwers work is bright and expressive, in a frequently surrealist style, with women and women’s bodies as recurrent motives. Describing his style, Strüwer has frequently used words such as ‘sensual surrealism’ or ‘postmodern flower power’. His work is represented in many  private and public collections, such as the Peter Stuyvesant Collection, Gemeente Museum The Hague and Moderna Museet Stockholm.
