Franco Costa

Franco Costa (Rome, 1934 – Rome, 2015) was an Italian painter known for his colourful works in Arte Vita style, often related to major sailing events. His art and personality showed similar features: radiant colors and forms combined with a harmony as open and simple as appealing. Costa studied music and violin at the Accademia di Santa Cecillia in Rome, French and literature in Geneva and architecture in both Zurich and at the L’Ecole des Arts et Metiers in Paris. His friends included Nicolas de Stael, Picasso and Matisse. Costa’s work enjoys much popularity in both the United States and Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands.
